Guideline Overview

Allowing people of all abilities to share their lives is the heart of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This is especially important at recreational sites and playgrounds. Kids need to be kids, and playing together is a great way to enjoy each other. Our dedication to serving children of all abilities is evidenced in our total-access approach to playground design. For a copy of our Playground Access Planning Worksheet or for answers to specific questions, contact your local Playworld Systems playground consultant.

Playworld Systems provides this worksheet as an easy guide to help you learn how to use the Accessibility Guidelines for Public Playgrounds.
Our worksheet covers most of the issues that are critical to meeting these guidelines. It does not represent all issues contained in the rule, and is not intended to be a complete test of playground accessibility. This is intended for planning new play areas only, and is not intended to measure access to existing play areas or additions to existing playgrounds.

Our ADA Checklist is in portable document format (pdf). If you have not done so already, viewing this worksheet requires downloading Adobe® Acrobat® Reader. If your browser (such as Netscape or Internet Explorer) is compatible with Adobe Acrobat, you can set it up so that documents are viewed automatically. Otherwise, you can download to your computer and use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and/or print.
