Bouldering across the wall, children face up to four different complexity levels depending on the positions of the handhold grips. The varying levels of difficulty keep kids coming back to conquer the next level as they build strength, endurance and confidence. Because there are numerous ways to change the position of the grips, the activity never gets old or boring. The units come with a free, 10 lesson curriculum to assist instructors and to help integrate bouldering into fitness programming. “Unlike any other piece of play equipment, climbing walls provide obstacles that challenge children mentally and physically,” said Matt Miller, president of Playworld Systems. “Indoor rock climbing is an excellent way to stay fit and helps kids stay active during the months when outdoor activities are limited.” There is no construction required. The climbing walls are designed to bolt onto existing walls in recreational facilities and gyms. To conserve space, the walls come in sets of 4 by 8 foot panels, accompanied by cushioned floor mats that fold up tightly. These dual action mats act as a safety pad when laid out and keep climbers off the equipment when in the locked position.
