The ADA/ Accessibility
Plan a playground for people of all abilities
Playworld Systems is committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, has an equal opportunity to connect with other children in the camaraderie of play. It’s the spirit behind every playspace we create. Here’s how we can help you build an inclusive playspace that makes it possible for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to come together through play.
Meeting ADA guidelines
Understanding the guidelines for accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the first step to creating an equal play environment. Playworld Systems designs equipment and playspaces to not only meet, but exceed, those guidelines, including:
- Providing accessible routes into, around, and within the playspace
- Making all ground-level activities accessible
- Achieving satisfactory elevated-to-ground-based play component ratios
Creating a universally designed playspace
Playworld Systems can help you go beyond ADA guidelines to achieve the barrier-free principles of Universal Design. In a universally designed playspace, play activities are designed to create an identical or equivalent play experience for every single child, without segregation or stigmatization. In fact, at least 70% of all play activities should be accessible to children just by using their everyday means of mobility.
Promoting inclusion
At Playworld Systems, our ultimate goal is to help you create an inclusive playground: a socially integrated, non-threatening environment where kids of all abilities can develop a greater appreciation of one another—their similarities and their differences. We’re proud to offer play equipment that promotes inclusive play and allows kids to develop essential skills for life as they learn together through play.
